As-is that comment sounds like a car guy making excuses not to go for a drive. Rearranging as such: "It's snowing, I have nowhere to go, my back and feet hurt and I have other things to do but I want to go for a drive anyway." fixes that altogether. /Grammar Nazi.

Well, I just used a couple text messages to rope three of my friends into a long, aimless drive tomorrow morning so I'd call that a success.

It sounds very familiar. Two scenarios:
1st scenario, Me to wife and kid, "we can't go the the store/church/etc because there's snow on the ground, and I'm not sure how bad the roads are."
2nd scenario, me to wife, "I can make it, do you not trust my driving skills?" (Which I've proven to her before).
General rule, if I'm on my own, I'm willing to take more chances because I can drive at full capacity. I know the extent of my driving skills. If the family is with me, I drive more reserved and safely, aka held- back. I don't want them to get hurt, :).
